Joe,
Have you thought that there might exist a European nationalism with Europe as its homeland?
Good luck with the new site! (Though I’d advise not stoking up too much “high tempers, violence and danger” at the pub!)
@Ralf
Hi, Ralf!
I’m positive there is a European identity, because I think of myself as both English and European.
Whether there is an actual European nationality is something to investigate. Many theorists put shared language at the centre of “national identity,” and Europe doesn’t have that. There are exceptions, of course, such as Swiss nationality. So I’m not ruling out a European nationality.
It’s something for me to investigate, to be sure!
@Stephen
Cheers, Stephen!
There’s still a lot to do before it’s “out of beta” – but I’ve more or less settled on a format. Still experimenting a bit with the style!
Looking at Irish nationalism is going to be fun, and I could use your help when I get to that!
Joe
@Eurocentric
Cheers, Conor!
Hehe! Don’t worry – that’s just what I said to make it sound sexy.
Another thing that came out in discussion at Rotterdam was how people are a bit fed up that the EU can be so dense and… boring.
A little bit of violence and danger in the morning stokes peoples’ attention.
I should be safe: Trento doesn’t have pubs – only cafes and bistros. And I’d certainly rather have an espresso cup smashed over my head than a pint glass.
And, of course, more seriously: I’ll be moderating both what I say and what other people say in the comments carefully.
Glad to see this much anticipated blog finally finished. I love the illustrated headers! I look forward to the many insightful posts on The Old Continent ahead.
